  19. Introduction    The fonts included on this CD have been collected from a
  20.                 variety of worldwide sources. In order to make things
  21.                 easier for the user we have intentionally sorted all the
  22.                 fonts into individual directories, containing all
  23.                 associated font files along with an IFF screen preview of
  24.                 the font (Who else has done this on a CD?) 
  25.  
  26.                 We also decided to keep the main font directories in line
  27.                 with the the way the fonts are/were distributed in the EMC
  28.                 PD/Shareware library. Over 14,500 EMC customers worldwide
  29.                 have access to the famous EMC Information pack, so
  30.                 theoretically, these users will already have a hard copy
  31.                 printout of the fonts.

  33.                 Some fonts come with text files by the font's author.
  34.                 PLEASE read these files for further information on the
  35.                 fonts and shareware fees. If you make use of the fonts...
  36.                 PLEASE send the author the money he asks for. He/She has
  37.                 spent large amounts of both time and probably money
  38.                 developing/converting the typefaces so you can use them!
  39.  
  40.                 Some fonts also come with other font files, these files
  41.                 include for example Fontname.abf, Fontname.cfg, Fontname.wri.
  42.                 You should not concern yourself with these files! As
  43.                 distributors of PD & Shareware fonts we are obliged to
  44.                 include ALL the files that come with each font, regardless
  45.                 if they are needed or not. In general the only files your
  46.                 should be concerned with for use on the Amiga are the font
  47.                 files with the Fontname.AFM & Fontname.PFB extensions.
  48.                 However, some Amiga applications use for example the
  49.                 Fontname.pfm file (Imagine v2.9+)

  53. Installation for Type 1 Fonts ----------------------------------------------

  56. Pagestream......We recommend that you make a new directory in your PSFonts
  57.                 directory, for example : EMC_Fonts1, EMC_Fonts2 etc., and 
  58.                 simply copy all the font files into it. Try and resist the
  59.                 temptation of putting too many fonts into the same
  60.                 directory since YOU may need to READ or update the
  61.                 directory sometime, and it will take ages to read the
  62.                 contents! Load Pagestream (Soft-Logik), and update the font
  63.                 list to include your new font directory/directories.

  67. Final Copy2 release2 and Final Writer

  69. Please note:    If, when trying to load a font, a requester appears saying
  70.                 that the font cannot be loaded as an outline font, you have
  71.                 an old version of Final Copy's Type 1 Loader. THERE IS NO
  72.                 PROBLEM WITH THE FONT! Please contact Gordon Harwoods
  73.                 (Softwoods UK distributor) and ask for Tony Bullock in the
  74.                 technical dept.. He will arrange to send you the new
  75.                 version of the loader. This ONLY applies to Final Copy
  76.                 users!

  78. Floppy ...      Format some floppy disks, and copy all the fontfiles with
  79.                 the .PFB extensions to the new floppies (the other files
  80.                 are not needed) Load Final Copy, open the font requester
  81.                 and access the floppy containing the fonts you wish to use.
  82.                 When the list appears, click on the font name and it will
  83.                 load ready for use.

  85. Hard Drive ...  You can either...
  86.  
  87.                 1. Create a drawer on your hard disk and copy all the font
  88.                    files with the .PFB extension to it. This eliminates the
  89.                    need to search through the entire CD to locate the font
  90.                    you wish to use.

  92.                    or...
  93.  
  94.                 2. Make a note of the fonts you like and manually locating
  95.                    them on the CD by clicking through the various CD
  96.                    directories in the file requester and selecting the font
  97.                    you wish to use by clicking on it's .PFB file.
